Instructional Design: Producing an e-learning Course on Environmental Management for the African Mining Industry

04 - 08 December 2000, Windhoek, Namibia

Environmental experts from Botswana, Malawi, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe met in Windhoek, Namibia, for producing the e-learning course “Environmental Management in the Mining Industry – Enhancing Productivity with Sustainability”.

The curriculum consists of a 12 weeks training programme on the Internet enhanced by two face-to-face workshops.
Target group: middle to senior mine management (General Foreman upwards) who are responsible for mining and metallurgical processes and services involving waste streams.
This course is now recognised by the School of Mines of the University of Zambia and the Institute of Environmental Studies of the University of Zimbabwe. The workshop was organised by Sebastian Hoffmann, Arnd Bubenzer and Daniela Giannini from common sense and Stephan Liebenow.
