How you will learn

The CPeO offers much more than a usual training programme - it is action learning and intense cooperation over distance while staying at your workplace. You will cooperate with experts working in the field with a long and successful track record. They will provide for project support along the lines of your job responsibilities and will facilitate your advancement in your carreer. You will get lots of opportunities to discuss topics of practical relevance.

You'll get expert feedback on your deliverables. You will discuss your project and expected outcome, receive personal advice online and during face to face events. You will get support through mailing lists, chats and e-mails in order to make your deliverables more successful.

What this course requires from you

If you are new to self-directed learning, you may find this style of learning innovative and a bit frightening. But no one will nag you or criticize you for not participating. The whole programme requires your active and timely participation since you learn by participating actively and by working on your project together with your peers. You alone are responsible for your own learning. That means you must have the drive and discipline to learn throughout the coaching programme within a rather demanding schedule.
There is a Job Evaluation Scheme in place. The advancement of the group and individuals is made visible continuously each time after your deliverables were assessed.

Time required

The coaching programme has a modular structure and can be tailored to your organisation´s needs. The complete programme looks like this:
130 working hours during the online phase; 70 face-to-face working hours; 150 hours on project implementation (change management and course production); approx. 350 hours during 8 months (approx. 45 days, 12 hours/week).
It is recommended to reply to your fellow learners as soon as possible and to work at the pace of the group. If you study the material please do it at once and do not divide up your study time frequently.
There are three mandatory face to face events (in the beginning, in the middle of the programme and at the end).
Each event lasts at least 3 days.

Technical requirements

The technical prerequisites have been adapted to high and very low bandwidth conditions. You can participate e.g. from Uganda with a 2 Kilobit connection or from Berlin with a 4 Megabit DSL connection from your home office or workplace. The CPeO experts have been working under a variety of connectivity settings and can offer the same high quality services independent of your bandwidth.
You can access the coaching programme by using all operating systems. Your computer can be a recent model or a five year old Pentium PC. Our staff provides for technical support so that you can participate efficiently and focus on your job responsibility.

To get most out of this course

Do all the assigned activities since you will be assessed according to the quality of your deliverables. The activities immediately let you apply what you have learned. Review the readings after you complete the activities. The activity task description will make clear how you can apply the readings to your project. Participate in the discussion groups. Ask questions, debate issues, and especially help your peers.

Authors and facilitators

The CPeO was developed and is facilitated by a network of international consultants, managed by the Hoffmann&Reif partner network. Please check the list of contributors.
The authors and experts are working as project managers, change management consultants and instructional designers. They already have set up ICT enhanced educational institutions in industrialised and developing countries. They offer you much more than training, because they have the experience and capability to assist you at your workplace when you apply what you have learnt. You will develop your own tailor made solution for your institution.

Credits

The CPeO can be taken over by a customer and become embedded in his or her educational portfolio. Two types of certificates from the project consortium and participating universities are issued upon successful completion. If more than 80% of the score has been achieved a Business Certificate is issued with the permission to take over the CPeO. If continuous participation and partly successful deliverables have been achieved a Certificate of Participation is issued.
